HANYS’ Data Academy℠ Data Fundamentals: Introduction to Administrative Data and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) will teach you how to analyze and compare inpatient hospital statistics, using data your hospital reports to the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS).
This educational Webconference is designed for medical records, coding, planning, marketing, and compliance professionals. This program will benefit anyone involved in the analysis of hospital data.psychiatric, skilled nursing, and home health services.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will:

have command of the data collected and reported to SPARCS;

understand the similarities and differences between the CMS and New York State grouping methodologies and how they affect DRG assignment;

understand DRG methodologies to more effectively compare and evaluate cases;

understand how various administrative data can be used to evaluate hospital operations, including comparison to other facilities both locally and nationally; and

identify limitations of comparisons to understand the pitfalls and benefits of certain methodologies.
