Introduction to Understanding Case Mix will explain how to interpret and optimize case-mix data. Faculty will explain basic case-mix concepts and explore the benefits of case-mix analysis. This session will emphasize the differences between New York State and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) case mix, with details on why and how these two types of case mix should be tracked independently.
Faculty will explain the case-mix index, including why it is an important barometer of expected Medicare reimbursement. Faculty will also explore the nuances of interpreting changes in case mix to determine how “real” they are.
This educational Webconference is designed for medical records, coding, planning, marketing, and finance professionals. It will benefit anyone involved in the analysis of hospital data.
