Introduction to Quality is designed to help hospital quality improvement team members understand and use quality data effectively to monitor and improve the quality of care.

Faculty will:

  • highlight state and national data sources and discuss the implications of data accuracy in various sources of benchmarking and comparative databases;
  • identify descriptive statistical techniques used in the identification, display, and analysis of data for performance improvement and outcome measure analysis; and
  • discuss the design of a quality measurement evaluation process, identification of best practices, and collaboration for establishing systems for accountability and performance.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will:
  • identify the implications of quality data in the current regulatory, accountability, and reimbursement environment;
  • have command of the basic technical skills and data tools required to effectively design and evaluate quality improvement findings; and
  • communicate quality improvement findings to team members, administrative staff, and boards.
Different topics will be covered each day—participation in both days is
encouraged for maximum value.
