Quality Statistics: Using and Communicating Health Care Quality Data is a course in statistical analysis techniques, including risk adjustment, designed to help hospital quality management professionals evaluate internal quality data and fully understand external public reports.
The course will provide the foundation for improved communication regarding hospital quality and patient safety to hospital frontline staff, executive teams, boards of directors, and ultimately, the public.
Faculty will:
- discuss patient safety;
- identify characteristics of the root cause analysis team;
- define the components to make the process thorough, effective, and credible;
- explore the brainstorming process;
- discuss the “five rules of causation”; and
- review important components of an effective action plan.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will:
- understand the importance of maintaining an environment of patient safety;
- gain knowledge of the basic skills necessary to lead the root cause analysis process; and
- develop effective action plans.
Different topics will be covered each day—participation in all three days is encouraged for maximum value.
